Portmanteau? Portmanass

PORTMANTEAU?  PORTMANASS!

Senator Robert Portman (R, Ohio) supports gay marriage--sort of.

He supports it because his son is gay.

Buty he will NOT support--let alone advocare, or (Straight God with women in sight) propose--the repeal of the repulsive "Defense of Marriage Act" which he helped pass in 1996.

Senator Portman says he is "getting politically comfortable with [his] position."  I suppose that that means he doesn't want to lose and bigots' votes by actually endorsing moral, sexual freedom.

He says he "doesn't want to force [his] views on others"--but he did just that in 1996, when he championed the nasty "Defense of Marriage Act."  Or maybe gays don't even count as "others" in Senator Portman's mind.

Is this just selfishness, or stupidity?

He voted either politically--for re-relection among bigots--in 1996, or he voted his stupidly prejudiced conscience.  Now he says that his conscience has been changed--by his discovery that his son is gay.  That's a principled decision?  Not in the least.  It's selfishness.  No, it's worse than that:  it's insulting selfishness.   And his son should repuduate him.  Senator Portman (R, Ohio) is simply making a selfish, partial  exception for his gay son.

Senator Portman should be hounded from office--forced to resign--not just by gays, not just by gays in Ohio, not just by decent human beings in Ohio and elsewhere, but by all people who support integrity in public office.

Senator Portman  is a weasel:  no, worse than a weasel.  Weasels don't pretend to integrity.

Were I Senator Portman's son, I would denounce my father--whether I was gay or not--as an untrustworthy, self-serving, immoral man.
